Management Team

Luis Cid has been Chief Executive Officer (CEO) since 2017 and has more than a decade of experience in the renewable energy sector. He joined the company in 2010 as Head of Business Development, Mergers & Acquisitions and Structured Finance, leading the company’s expansion in six different markets -including the UK and the US- and has achieved important milestones such as the start-up of the wind division and the increase of its project portfolio to 8GWs. Before joining Opdenergy, he was Business Development Director of Iberdrola’s Engineering and Construction division, where he was responsible for the development of renewable energy projects and electricity distribution networks.
He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the ICAI School of Engineering.

Tomás Collantes is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) since 2022. Previously he was Director of Corporate Development and Structured Finance, being responsible for the structuring and execution of M&A transactions, project finance, corporate finance and asset management of the company. He has more than 13 years of experience in M&A and structured finance transactions, most of them related to the renewable energy sector. Prior to joining Opdenergy, he was Director of Structured Finance and M&A at solar energy provider IBC Solar in Asia; he held the same responsibility at Fonroche; he was Manager of Structured Finance at a subsidiary of Abengoa; as well as a senior consultant in the M&A department of PwC.

Abraham Morales is Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) at Opdenergy since 2023 and acting Country Manager in the U.S. since 2024. He joined the company in 2022 as Head of Business Development Europe. He has over 15 years of experience in renewable energy, with a focus on commercial strategy, international expansion, and M&A.

Prior to Opdenergy, he was Director of International Business Development at Ignis Energía and VP of Market Intelligence and Strategy at Vestas. He also held several roles in GE Renewable Energy across marketing, business development, and pricing in Europe and the U.S. His career began at GE Consumer & Industrial and as Economic Attaché at the Mexican Embassy in Berlin.

He holds a degree in International Business from Universidad de Monterrey, an MBA from Hult International Business School, and executive education from Harvard University.

Alfonso Álvarez is the Chief Legal Officer (CLO) at Opdenergy, a role he assumed after joining the company in 2011 as Head of Legal Services. He also serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors and of other group companies. He has extensive experience in corporate and regulatory law within the energy sector. Before joining Opdenergy, he was a senior associate at the Madrid office of Garrigues, working in the Environmental and Renewable Energy practice. Previously, he worked in the Corporate and M&A department at EY.

José Antonio Gil has been the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Opdenergy since October 2024. He previously served as Grid Connection Director, leading for over three years an international team responsible for connecting solar, wind and storage facilities to the grid across key markets such as Spain, the U.S., Italy, the UK, Mexico, and Chile. He brings over 17 years of experience in the energy sector, with a solid track record at Iberdrola, where he held technical and leadership roles in electrical engineering for renewables. He stood out for his work on substations, high-voltage lines and grid connection contracts, as well as for technical evaluation of electrical components and global operational support. His career has focused on ensuring the efficient and reliable integration of renewable assets into the grid. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from ICAI, a master’s in Automotive Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and a master’s in Energy Finance from the University of Alcalá.

Cristina Lucio-Villegas has been the Director of People, Safety, Sustainability, and Communication at Opdenergy since November 2024. She previously served as Global Human Resources Director, leading HR, health and safety, and corporate services teams during a key phase of the company’s international expansion. She has an extensive experience in the renewable energy sector wihin Europe, the Americas, and Asia, having held senior roles at Elawan Energy and Univergy Solar —where she oversaw organization, communication, development, compensation, and diversity—and at EDP Renewables, where she focused on corporate talent policies, training, attraction, and digital transformation. Her entire career has been developed in multinational environments, leading strategic human resources initiatives with a strong emphasis on communication, sustainability, and organizational culture. She holds a degree in Organizational Psychology and Human Resources from the University of Granada and has several postgraduate degrees, including Human Resources Management (ICADE), Financial Reporting (INSEAD), and People Analytics (ESADE), among others.
