The plant is located near the village of Eastbourne, in East Sussex and is scheduled to be connected to the electricity network by this December.

The new solar farm represents a total investment of over £7, 9 million and will comprise approximately 35,200 solar modules and will generate enough electricity to meet the equivalent annual demand of approximately 2,640 homes in the UK.

Today is an important step towards meeting our objective of connecting 100MW of PV capacity by March 2015, said OPDE’s head of UK development, this project is part of an active and successful UK development pipeline including a 12 MWp solar farm, which was successfully connected in March 2014, and 6,9 MWp solar farm in Hothfield where construction is due commence imminently.

OPDE is on track to meet its objective of connecting 100 MW of photovoltaic capacity by March 2015.
